Houses
Houses
are probably the easiest ones. Download the file and Unzip/Rar it - you can download WinRAR free
here, it's a very good
program as it can handle both main file types used by creating
simmers. Put the file wherever you like.
Now
open the file and a little blue window marked "The Sims 2
Body shop Package Installer" should pop up. tell it to
install the custom content and you're away! The lot should
appear in your lots and houses bin next time you play the game.
Clothes,
Genetics
& Skintones, Careers, Neighbourhood Objects, Objects &
Object Recolours
Download
the file and Unzip/Rar it - you can download WinRAR free here, it's a very good program as it can handle both main file
types used by creating simmers.
Put
the Unzipped/rared file into
"C:/Documents and Settings/yourusername/My
Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads"
on a
Windows PC.
On a MAC *FIND OUT!*
If you
have installed clothes or a new object, but you just see a maxis item which you
don't want two of; then the item had a new mesh, and the mesh
wasn't installed. Check that you downloaded all of the files
that came with the item and that all of them went in the downloads folder.
Majors
Installation
is the same as Careers and Clothes. Obviously majors are
University required. You
will also need this
object to make it
work - be sure to read the instructions though!
Camera
Settings
First
of all, you need to make a backup of C:\Documents and
Settings\yourusername\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Cameras.
Now you've done that, unZip/Rar the downloaded file if necessary
- you need to end up with a .txt file. Once you have your .txt
file, put it into the original C:\Documents and
Settings\yourusername\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Cameras,
and it should take effect when you next start the game.
Hacks
Hacks
'r' great - my amazing policy. My game would be nowhere near as
good as it is without hacks. That's not going to stop me warning
you.
Hacks
can be bad. They change
the way your game works. If you're going to download a hack, make
sure you read everything that comes with it. Try and
remember what hacks you have installed - sometimes two hacks
will conflict and your game will stop working. Only
install a hack if you definitely want it - having too
many complicates things.
If
you've just installed a hack and your game stops working
properly, don't panic. Just take
out the hack and try again. 99.9% of the
time that will fix it. Then tell the creator about the
problem - first ensuring that you re-read
the download page so you won't look like a twit. Quite
often other people experience the same thing and the creator
fixes/decommissions the hack. And of course you read everything
before you downloaded, so you don't need to worry about
self-inflicted ignorance! Do you!
Now
the warnings done, installing a hack is just like these!
